A gardener planted a total of 328 flowering plants in a garden. The sunflower plants were 12 less than thrice the rose plants. What was the number of rose plants?

let Rose plants = x

Sunflower plants = 3x - 12

Now , Sunflower + Rose plants = Total

3x - 12 + x = 328

4x = 328 + 12

x = 340 ÷ 4

Number of Rose plants = 85
