FOR EQUAL NUMBER OF ROWS AND COLUMNS HE NEEDS A PERFECT SQUARE NUMBER WHICH IS GREATER AND CLOSEST TO 1000.

32^{2} IS THE NEAREST NUMBER THAT IS 1024

FOR 32 COLUMNS AND 32 ROWS HE NEED MORE 24 PLANTS.(1024-1000)
