Answer:

if men-120 then days-25

if men-125 then days-x

this is a case of inverse variation....

120*25=125*x

x=120*25/125

Step-by-step explanation:

given :-

  • garrison of 120 men has provision for 30 days.
  • At the end of 5 days, 5 more people joined .

To Find :-

  • How many days can they sustain on the remaining provision

the provision for 1 men would sustain for. 120 × 30 = 3600 days.

Supposed the last number is x

120 × 30 = 120 × 5+125 × x

(120 × 30) - (120 × 5)= 125x

3600 - 600 = 125x

3000 = 125x

x. = 3000/125

x = 120/5

X = 24

Hence the provision would remain for more 24 days.
