A garrison of 1500 men is provisioned for 60 days.After 25 days , the garrison is reinforced by 500 men. How long will the remaining provisions last?

Solution:-
Given : The garrison has provision for 1500 men for 60 days.
Hence after 25 days, the remaining food is sufficient for 1500 men for 35 days.
Remaining men after 25 days = 1500 + 500 = 2000 men
So, more men are there, then food will last for less days (Inverse proportion).
∴ 2000 : 1500 :: 35 x
⇒ 2000 × x = 1500 × 35
⇒ x = (1500 × 35)/2000
⇒ x= 105/4
x = 26 1/4 days
or 26 days (Approx)
