A gas cylinder can withstand a pressure difference of 15 atm across its boundaries. If at room temperature (300K) it is filled with 2 atm of pressure, then determine the temperature at which it will explode.

Answer:

P1/P2 = T1/T2

15/2 = T1/300

T1 = 15 x300 /2

T1= 372.5 K

∴ The cylinder will be at 99.5°C
