A gas can't be half filled because the molecules of gas don't come close like the solids. They always have a tendency to be filled up in a container. A gas cylinder cannot be half filled because of the following reasons: ... Gases are the fluid form of matter which occupy the entire container.

☸gases are the type of matter in which the INTERMOLECULAR FORCE OF ATTRACTION is LEAST.... i.e. the gaseous molecule has the tendency to spread as far as possible from each other .....
☸it shows high diffusion property....
☸it has the tendency to occupy the shape of the container in which it is present completely.....
☸so when u start filling the cylinder then it doesn't occupy may be 1/2 or 1/4 or 1/6 or any such ratio of volume... but whatever be the amount say... u add 1 litre or 2litre or 100litres..... it will occupy the whole space provided to it....
☸unlike solid ... the molecule do not have the property of of sticking together.... they just spread and occupy whatever volume they are provided with....
hope it helps you...
