A gas cylinder of capacity 20 dm^3 is filled with gas X the mass of which is 10g. When the same cylinder if filled with hydrogen gas at same temperature and pressure the mass of hydrogen is 2g, hence relative molecular mass of the gas is?​

Molecular weight of the gas can be found using the following formula:

n1=n2. as the conditions of temperature and pressure are same.

where, n1=number of moles of gas X. = w/MM = 85 / MM

n2=number of moles of hydrogen. = w/MM = 8.5/18

MM = (85x18) / 8.5

MM = 180 g/mol
