Your Answer:

STP = 273.15 K and 100 kPa

1 mmHg = 0.133322kPa

Convert 560 mmHg to kPa.

560 mmHg × (0.133322 kPa/1 mm Hg) = 74.66 kPa

Use the combined gas law:

P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2, where;

P1 = initial pressure = 74.66 kPa

V1 = initial volume = 380 cm^3

T1 = 7 °C + 273.15 K = 300 K

P2 = final pressure = 100 kPa

V2 = final volume = ?

T2 = final temperature = 273.15 K

Rearrange the equation for the combined gas law to isolate V2.

V2 = P1V1T2/P2T1

V2 = (74.66 kPa·380 cm^3·273.15 K)/(100 kPa·300 K) = 258 cm^3

:. The Volume of the Gas is 258cm^3
