Given:-

  • Pressure exerted by a gas (p) = 200 Pa.

  • Area of the piston (a) = 500 cm²

To Find:-

  • Force acting on the piston (f)

Solution:-

As we know that ,

⟹ Pressure = Force/Area

⟹ p = f/a

putting all the values which is given above

⟹ 200 = f/500.

⟹ 200 = f/ 0.05 (500/10000m² = 0.05m²

⟹ f = 200 × 0.05

⟹ f = 10 N

∴ The force acting on the the piston is 10N.

Additional Information !!!

✧ Force is the product of mass and acceleration.

In other word

A push or pull of an object is called force.

✧ SI unit of force is Newton.

Force can also be calculated by

✧ Force = Mass × Acceleration

Given ,

Pressure = 200 Pascal

Area = 500 cm² or 0.05 m²

We know that ,

The force per unit area is called pressure

 \boxed{ \sf{Pressure =  \frac{Force }{Area}  }}

Thus ,

200 = Force/0.05

Force = 200 × 0.05

Force = 10 Newton

Therefore ,

  • The force acting on the piston is 10 N
