but V2-V1 = 1L

V2 = L + V1

=> Place the value of V2 in eq (1),

V1 / L + V1 = 3/4

4V1 = 3 (L + V1)

4 V1 = 3L + 3V1

4 V1 - 3V1 = 3L  

∴ V1=3L  

Thus, the volume of the container is 3L.
