COx is the gas
VD=70
VD=Mwt/2
Mwt =140
x=140/28. (12+16=28)
x=5
VD=70
VD=Mwt/2
Mwt =140
x=140/28. (12+16=28)
x=5

Molecular Mass = 2 x Vapour Density.
so Molecular Mass of X = 2 x 70 = 140.
And this molecular mass will be equal to x times the sum of atomic masses of Carbon and Oxygen as given in the question.
So we can write,
(Atomic mass of Carbon + atomic mass of Oxygen) x = 140
(12 + 16) x = 140
28x = 140
x = 5. ans.
so Molecular Mass of X = 2 x 70 = 140.
And this molecular mass will be equal to x times the sum of atomic masses of Carbon and Oxygen as given in the question.
So we can write,
(Atomic mass of Carbon + atomic mass of Oxygen) x = 140
(12 + 16) x = 140
28x = 140
x = 5. ans.
