A gas jar containing air is inverted over another jar containing nitre which is brown in color and heavier than air. After sometime, brown color is seen in the inverted gas jar too . Identify the phenomenon associated with it?

Diffusion is the phenomenon associated with its as the two gases mix together.The air and nitre both intermix with each other and both the jars appear to be brown. This is because the air is colourless. Though it goes up but it cannot be seen.
