A gas occupies 4 Litres at 27°c and
720 mm of hg pressure. Calculate its volume at
S.T.P.​

V₁ = 4 Litres

T₁ = 27°C ⇒ 300K

P₁ = 720 mm of Hg

V₂ = ??

Solution

At STP

T₂ = 25 °C ⇒ 298 K

P₂ = 760 mm of Hg

as we know that from gas laws

P₁ V₁ / T₁ = P₂ V₂ / T₂ ...................(I)

by putting values

V₂ = (720 X 4 X 298) / (300 X 760)

V₂ = 3.76 Litres

Volume of a gas at  S.T.P is 3.76 Litres
