Answer:

v=18.21

Explanation:

pv=nRt

20*1=0.0821*300*n⇒n=0.812

0.812*22.4=18.189

Given: Volume of gas(V₁) = 20L

The temperature of the gas = 27°C

The pressure of the gas (P₁) = 760 cm of Hg

To Find: Volume of gas at STP

Solution:

The following conditions are present at STP

Pressure at STP (P₂) = 760 mm of Hg

The temperature at STP (T₂) = 273K

Let volume at STP be V₂

The temperature in Kelvin = Temperature in Celcius + 273

The temperature of the gas in kelvin (T₁) = 27 + 273

T₁ = 300K

The pressure of the gas (P₁) = 760 cm of Hg

                                            P₁  = 7600 mm of Hg        (1cm = 10mm)

From the gas law,

\frac{P1V1}{T1}  = \frac{P2V2}{T2}

\frac{7600(20)}{300}      = \frac{760(V2)}{273}

V₂ = \frac{273(2)}{3}

V₂ = 91 x 2

    = 182 L

Therefore, the volume of gas at STP will be 182 L.
