Given info : A gas occupies a volume of 255ml at 3.2 atm pressure at 27°C.

To find : the pressure needed to reduce its volume to 160 ml at 300K.

Solution : temperature remains constant.

So we have to apply Boyle's law,

P₁V₁ = P₂V₂

Here, P₁ = 3.2 atm

V₁ = 255 ml

V₂ = 160 ml

and P₂ = ?

so, 3.2 atm × 255 ml = P₂ × 160 ml

⇒P₂ = (3.2 × 255)/(160) = 5.1 atm

Therefore the pressure needed to reduce its volume to 160 ml at 300K is 5.1 atm.
