A gas was allowed to expand at constant temperature from initial volume of

500 ml to 1000 ml. At the end of the expansion, the pressure of the gas was

found to be 1 atm. What was the initial pressure of the gas ?​

Since temperature is constant hence according to Boyle's law:

P1 V1 = P2V2

P1 × 500 ml = 1 atm × 1000 ml

hence P1 = 2 atm

Thus initial pressure of the gas was 2 atm.
