Answer:

PV = NRT

750

____ × 2.57 = X × 0.882 × 311

760

=> X = 0.101.

volume at stp

= mole × 22.4

= 2.28 litres .

Given - Pressure, volume and temperature

Find - Volume at S.T.P.

Solution - The volume of the gas 'X' at s.t.p. is 2.23 litres

The relation to be used for solving the question is- P1V1/T1 =P2V2/T2. P1, V1 and T1 are initial pressure, volume and temperature. P2, V2 and T2 are final pressure, volume and temperature.

At given conditions, T1 = 273 + 38

T1 = 311 K

At S.T.P., P2 = 760 mm of Hg, T2 = 273 K.

Keeping the values in the formula to find the volume at S.T.P.

750*2.57/311 = 760*V2/273

V2 = 750*2.57*273/(760*311)

V2 = 526207.5/236360

V2 = 2.23 litres.

Thus, the volume of the gas 'X' at s.t.p. is 2.23 litres
