A gaseous mixture having 1 lit ethane and 1 lit propane was completely burnt. What volume of O2 will

Explanation:just apply gay lussac's law as combustion is happening for gases only .

2C2H6+7O2 --- 2CO2+3H2O

2x. 7x. 2x. 3x

As in question:

1 litre is ethane .

2x=1

x=0.5litres

Therefore, 7x= 3.5litres

Similarly for second equation

That is,

C3H8+5O2 ----- 3CO2 +4H2O

x. 5x. 3x. 4x

x=1litre

Therefore,

5x= 5litres of oxygen used here

Therefore volume of oxygen required is 8.5litres.
