Answer:

Soldiers in regiment= 2314

Extra soldiers= 10

If the general wants to arrange his soldiers in a square, he would need equal men in all the rows. So, he would have to extract his extra 10 men.

Soldiers to be used= 2314- 10

= 2304

Let the soldiers in each row= x

X²= 2304

X= √2304

X= 48

There are 48 soldiers in each row.

Hope it helps.

Your Answer:

Given:-

  • A general draws his regiment of 2314 soldiers in the form of square.
  • 10 extra soldiers left when the soldiers had arranged in square

To find:-

  • Number of soldiers in each row.

Solution:-

Let the number of soldiers in a row be a

So, ATQ

a² + 10 = 2314    ( as 10 soldiers are extra )

=> a² = 2314 - 10

=> a² = 2304

=> a = 48

So every row has 48 soldiers.
