From the total number of 36562 four army men will stand at the 4 corners of the square formation.

Remaining army men = 36562 -  4 = 36558

These army men will be divided by 4 to take their places at the sides of the square formation.

When 36558 is divided by 4, we get 9,139 remainder = 2

So, 2 army men will remain unused.

According to question

Total Number of Army men  =  36562

Thus dividing these total number of army men into a square means

    a ^2 = 36562
   Thus
      a = 191 When 81 army men are left

Thus Total number of army men left is 81
