A General wishing to draw up his 64019 men in the form of square found that he had 10 men extra. Find the number of men in the front row.

taking 10 as the remainder, we subtract it from the total no. i.e. 64019-10=64009
if 64009 men make a square, then no. of men in single row are (under root 64009)=253
hence no. of men in front row are 253.
