The narrator of “The Thief's story” was Hari Singh and is a thief. One day the narrator met and made friendship with Anil, who was a writer and thought to rob him.  Anil kept Hari for cooking. Anil used to teach Hari to write and read. Though Hari was not aware of cooking, Anil taught him to cook the food. But Hari was waiting for the chance to rob.
