A girl climbs up a rope of height 8 m in 10 seconds. If mass of girl is 50 Kg, then calculate the

power expended by girl.​

Given :

  • Height = 8 m
  • Time = 10 s
  • Mass of the girl = 50 kg

To find :

  • Power

Solution :

The work done by the body to climb the rope will be equal to it's potential energy .

⇒ W = PE

⇒ W = m x g x h

here ,

  • W = work
  • m = mass
  • g = acceleration due to gravity
  • h = height

⇒ W = 50 x 10 x 8

⇒ W = 4000 J

Now,

As per the formula ,

⇒ P= W / t

here ,

  • P = power
  • W = work
  • t = time

⇒ P = 4000 / 10

⇒ P = 400 W

The power expended by the girl is 400 W .
