Given :

           A girl height 120 cm

           post at a speed of 1.2 m/s

           the lamp is 4.8m above the ground level

To Find :

            find the length of her shadow after 6 seconds

Solution :

The height of girl = 120 = 1.2 m

height of the lamp = 4.8 m

Let the shadow length = x

distance traveled by the girl in 6 second = 1.2  x 6 = 7.2

from the properties of similar triangle;

1.2/ 4.8  = x/(x=7.2)

1.2/4.8 = x/ ( x+ 7.2 )

0.25 = x/ (x+7.2)

0.25

Hence the length of the shadow will be 0.25 m

Hope this helps you
