A girl moving along a circular path of radius 14 m
completes half the journey along the circle. Find:
a) distance covered by her and b) displacement.
If she covers full circle, how the values of distance
and displacement would modify?
TAns. a) 1470 m, b) 28 m; Distance = 2870 m, Displacement=0

Answer:

Distance is the path covered by her, it is given that she completes half the journey it means that she covered half the circumference of the circular path which is :

1/2*2πr ( Half circumference formula)

=πr

=22/7*14

=22*2

=48m

Hence, Distance covered by her is 48m

If we talk about displacement, it is the minimum distance between the starting point and final point of distance

Taking the case that se completed her whole journey and returned to the same spot, it is clear that the minimum distance between the starting position and final position is zero (0).

Hence, Displacement is Zero (0)
