A girl sitting on a swing stands up. What effect will that have on the periodic time of the swing?

When the girl stands up the centre of mass gets higher which is also the point of oscillation.
As a result,the effective length will decrease. Now , since the time period varies with the square root of the effective length (√l) , time period will decrease.

When the girl stands up, the distance between the point of suspension and the centre of mass of the swinging body decreases i.e., length decreases, so Time will also decrease .
