A girl standing near her window claps her hands and hears the echo after 5 seconds. Find the distance traveled by the sound if the speed of sound in air is 340m/s.

Given V=346m/s,t=5 second

Distance travelled =V×t

S=346×5=1730m i.e., in 5 second , the sound has to travel twice the distance between the cliff and the person. Thus , the distance between the cliff and the person

= 1730/2=865 metres
