(a)The weight of the girl is 50 kg (b) Pressure exerted by one foot is 27160 n/m^2

GIVEN

The pressure exerted by the Girl = 1300N/m^2 The total contact area of the shoes = 0.0368m^2

TO FIND

Mass of the Girl.

The pressure exerted by one foot.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows,

We know that,

Pressure is defined as the force exerted per unit area.

P =  \frac{f}{a}

Where,

f = force

a = area

Also,

Force = mass × acceleration due to gravity.

Putting the value of force in the formula of pressure we get,

P =  \frac{m \times g}{a}

Or,

m =  \frac{P \times a}{g}

Taking the value of g = 10m/s^2

Putting the values in the above formula we get,

m =  \frac{13600 \times 3.60 \times  {10}^{ - 2} }{10}

5004.8 \times  {10}^{ - 2}

or,

m = 50 kg

And force = 50×10 = 500N

Hence, the mass of the girl is 50kg.

Now she stood on 1 foot.

So, Area is halved

Let the new area be, a'

a' = a/2

pressure =  \frac{force}{area}

Putting the values in the above formula as getting,

P = 500× 2/3

P =  \frac{500 \times 2}{3.68 \times  {10}^{ - 2} }

P = 500 × 2 × 100/3.68

= 20× 1358

= 27160 N/m^2

Hence, the new pressure is 27160 n/m^2

ence, the new pressure is 27160 n/m^2and, the weight of the girl is 50 kg.
