A girl walks 200 m towards east and she walks 150m towards north. Find the distance of girl from the starting point

A girl walks 200 m towards east and then she walk 150m towards North.

If you are talking about distance then distance = 200 + 150m = 350m

If you are talking about distance from the starting point, that is, displacement then we have to calculate it by Pythagoras theorem. (Refer the attachment)

By Pythagoras theorem,

displacement = √(200² + 150²)

=> displacement = √{40000 + 22500}

=> displacement = √62500

=> displacement = 250m


Hence its Distance from the starting point is 250m
