a)distance is the total length covered by a particle.

distance is a scalar quantity.

displacement is the shortest distance covered by a particle.

displacement is a vector quantity.

b)at constant velocity both are same.

a) Distance

(I)it is the magnitude of length covered by an object.

(ii) it can never be zero if the object has moved. it is a scalar quantity.

Displacement

(I) it is shortest path from initial to final position

(ii)it can be zero. it is a vector quantity.

b) The distance and displacement will be same if an object has travelled in a straight line path.
