A given force displaces a object through a distance S in its own direction and then in a direction inclined at 60° to its own direction. What is the ratio of work done in the two cases.

1st case :W1 = f . s = fs cos0 = fs

2nd case W2 = f.s = fs cos60 = fs/2

therefore W1/W2 = 2
