a) Given that p is a non negative integer, which of these gives positive integers that are multiple of 5 :-

(1) 10 p and 10 p +2 (2) 10p and 10p +3 (3) 10p and 10p +4 (4) 10 p and 10p +5

Answer :-

given that,

→ P = non negative integer .

so, multiple of 5,

→ 5P

→ 5* 2P = 10P

→ 5 * 3P = 15P = (10P + 5P) = (10P + 5)

therefore, Option (4) is correct answer .

(b) Which of the following is an irrational number

(1) 12/18 (2) √3 / 3√5 (3) √5/√20 (4) √63/ √7

Answer :-

1) 12/18 = 2/3 = p/q and q ≠ 0 , so a rational number .

2) √3 / 3√5 = √3 / (√3 * √3 * √5) = 1/(√3 * √5) = 1/√15 = an irrational number .

3) √5 / √20 = √5 / (√5 * √4) = √5 / 2√5 = 1/2 = a rational number .

4) √63 / √7 = √7 * √9 / √7 = 3 = a rational number .
