Given:

A glass in the form of a right circular cylinder is half full of water. Its base radius is 3 cm and its height is 8 cm.

To find:

The volume of water.

Solution:

As given,

We have,

The radius of the glass = 3 cm

The height of the glass = 8 cm

Also,

The glass is in the form of a right circular cylinder, so,

The volume of glass

 = \pi \:  {r}^{2} h

 =  \pi  \:  \times  {3}^{2}  \times 8

 =    72 \pi  \:  {cm}^{3}

Now,

The glass is half full of water,

This means,

The volume of water

 =  \frac{1}{2}  \times  \: volume \: of \: glass

 =  \frac{1}{2}  \:   \times 72 \pi

 = 36 \pi   \: {cm}^{3}

Hence, the volume of water is b) 36πcm^3.
