A glass jar containing air is inverted over another containing no2 gas which is brown in colour and heavier than air . After sometime brown colour is seen in inverted gas jar too . Identify and define the phenomena associated with this observation

This phenomenon is diffusion.
Molecules of Gases are loosely packed and the intermolecular forces of attraction is very low.
Therefore they move about freely and get mixed up with other gases even when they donot react with the other gases.
