A glass jar contains blue and red balls. If there are 30 balls altogether and out of them 20
are blue. Find the probability of selecting a red ball.

Solution :-

given that,

→ Total Balls in the glass jar = Total number of outcomes = 30

and,

→ Total blue balls in the glass jar = 20

So,

→ Total Red balls in the glass jar = Total Favourable outcomes = Total Balls in the glass jar - Total blue balls in the glass jar = 30 - 20 = 10 .

then,

→ Required probability = Total Favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes .

→ Required probability = 10/30

→ Required probability = (1/3) (Ans.)

Hence, the probability of selecting a red ball is equal to (1/3) .
