A glass rod held in hand can be charged by rubbing with silk. why cannot a metal rod be charged like this?

Due to the Presence of charged ions for a longer time in glass rod than compared to metal rod

glass is an insulator ri8...but metals are conductors and can't be charged by rubbing with silk...Becoz if we change it like that charges instantly flow towards earth from our body or towards our body from earth 2 make it neutral...that's the reason...
