Given :

A glass rod, when rubbed with silk cloth, acquires a charge 1.6 x 10-13 coulomb.

To Find :

The charge on the silk cloth .

Solution :

We know , initially net charge on the system is zero .

Charge on glass rod , q_r=1.6\times 10^{-13}\ C .

Let , charge on silk cloth is q_c .

By conservation of charge :

Initial charge = Final charge

0=q_r+q_c\\\\q_c=-q_r\\\\q_c=-1.6 \times  10^{-13}\ C

Therefore , charge on the silk cloth is -1.6 \times  10^{-13}\ C .
