A glass contains total number of amoeba = 1billion = 1 × 10⁹
∵ 1 amoeba contains two sodium ions
∴ number of sodium ions in 1 billion amoeba = 2 × total number of amoeba
= 2 × 10⁹
We know, charge on a sodium ions , Na⁺ = charge on an electron
= 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹ C
∴ total charge contained in the glass = number of Sodium ions × charge on each sodium
= 2 × 10⁹ × 1.6 × 10⁻¹⁹C = 3.2 × 10⁻¹⁰ C
Hence, charge contained in the glass = 3.2 × 10⁻¹⁰C
