The crack is caused by thermal expansion.The part that the hot tea touches first expands due to heat and glass does not conduct heat quickly .Therfore there is a the stress between the expanded glass inside and unexpanded glass outside .So there is a crack in the glass tumbler when you suddenly pour hot tea
