A goat is tied at one corner of square field. Find the minimum length of the rope so that the goat can cover entire area of grazing. One of the side of square field is 4m.​

the farthest point in the square from this corner will be the diagonlly opposite corner of the square.

if the goat could reach the farthest point then it can obviously reach all other points in the square

for this the minimum length must be the distance between the corner the goat is tied to and the farthest point(which is the diagonally opposite corner)

we just have to find the dstance between the diagonally opposite corners of the square.

using the pyhtagoras property ,  the distance between the diagonally opposite corners   =   √2  × the side length of the square

=  4  × √2   =  4√2   metre
