Calculation of Weight

Answer: Weight of the Gold is 35 grams

And Weight of the Copper is 10 grams

Explanation:

Given that ratio of Gold and Copper used by gold smith to prepare ornament is in ratio 7 : 2

Total weight of the ornament = 45 grams

As ratio of Gold and Copper is 7 : 2 ,

lets assume Weight of Gold = 7x grams and Weight of Copper = 2x grams

Weight of Gold + Weight of Copper = Weight of Ornament prepared

⇒  7x + 2x = 45

On solving above expression for x , we get

9x = 45

⇒ x = 45/9

⇒ x = 5

Weight of the Gold = 7x = 7 × 5 = 35 grams

And Weight of the Copper = 2 x 5 = 10 grams
