A goldsmith mixes silver and gold in the ratio 1:9. Find the amount of gold and silver used in a chain weighing 60g.

let let the common term be x

ratio of ratio of gold and silver that goldsmith mixes = 1:9

sum of the ratio = 1x + 9x

= 10x

According to question

10x = 60g

x = 60g/10

x = 6g

Amount of gold = 6g × 1

= 6g Ans.

Amount of silver = 6g × 9

= 54g Ans.
