A grade nine student decides to test sugar water (which is sugar dissolved in water) to determine if it is a conductor or insulator. When it is hooked up to the piece of equipment in class, the light bulb does not glow. Answer the following questions about this observation:

The material is a insulator because it cannot conduct electricity through it.

We come to know it is an insulator because the bulb did not glow when current is passed through the sugar solution.
