Range R = 40 cm  jumping at Ф = 45° to the horizontal.
let g = 10 m/sec²

R = u² Sin2Ф / g
0.40 m = u² * 1 / g

u² = 4
u = 2 m/s

Horizontal component of speed = u cosФ = 2 * 1/√2 = √2 m/s
   = 1.414 m/s

Answer:

Range R = 40 cm  jumping at Ф = 45° to the horizontal.

let g = 10 m/sec²

R = u² Sin 2Ф / g

0.40 m = u² * 1 / g

u² = 4

u = 2 m/s

Horizontal component of speed = u cosФ = 2 * 1/√2 = √2 m/s

  = 1.414 m/s
