Monday = +250

Tuesday = -120

Wednesday = -180

Total profit/loss = Monday + Wednesday + Tuesday

= +250 + (-120) + (-180)

= 250 - 120 - 180

= -50

The green grocer had a total loss of 50 rupees.

Given - Profit on Monday = Rs. 250

Loss of Tuesday and Wednesday = Rs. 120 and 180 respectively.

Find - Total profit or loss after 3 days.

Solution - To find total profit or loss, all the amounts will be added. Profit will be taken with plus and loss will be taken with negative sign.

Writing the mentioned statement in mathematical form, the equation will be -

Total profit/loss = 250 + (-120) + (-180)

Total profit/loss = 250 - 120 - 180

Total profit/loss = 250 - (120 + 180)

Total profit/loss = 250 - 300

Total profit/loss = -50

Since the answer has negative sign, this indicates, green grocer suffered a loss of Rs. 50 after 3 days.
