The profit earned by the green grocer is denoted by the positive sign (+) and

the loss suffered by the green grocer is denoted by the negative sign.

Profit earned on Monday = Rs. 47 = (+ 47)

Loss incurred on Tuesday = Rs. 12 = (- 12)

Loss incurred on Wednesday = Rs. 8 = (- 8)

Therefore, his net profit or net loss in 3 days will be as follows.

⇒ (+ 47) + (- 12) + (- 8)

⇒ 47 - (12 + 8)

⇒ 47 - 20

⇒ + 27

So, his net profit is Rs. 27
