a greenish deposit is found in copper substance if it is exposed to moist air for a long time.why?

copper in presence of air oxides to copper oxide and copper carbonate.

Copper substance if exposed to moist air becomes greenish because when they are kept in moist air than copper reacts with carbon dioxide and forms copper carbonate which is greenish in colour.
