A grey colour metal 'X' is used for coating iron to prevent it from rusting. 'X' when dipped in iron sulphate solutiin, the colour changes to colourless and a greyish black metal. 'Y' is formed. Identify 'X' and 'Y'. Also give reason for your answer.​

X --- zinc

Y--- iron

When zinc is dipped in iron sulphate solution it displaces iron from the solution nd will form zinc sulphate

Zn + FeSO4 -----------> Fe + ZnSO4

it is displacement reaction
