X=zinc y= iron and the type of reaction is a displacement reaction.

X --- zinc  

Y--- iron

When zinc is dipped in iron sulphate solution it displaces iron from the solution nd will form zinc sulphate  

Zn + FeSO4 -----------> Fe + ZnSO4  

it is displacement reaction
