Answer:

Rs 3,390

Step-by-step explanation:

Total cost price = Rs 4,500

1/3 rd of Rs 4500 = Rs (4500/3) = Rs 1,500

Gain on Rs 1500 = Rs(10% of 1500)

                            = Rs (10/100 x 1500)

                            = Rs 150

Gain the seller want as a whole= 12% of Rs 4500

                                                    = Rs 540

Hence, the gain required = Rs(540-150) = Rs 390

The amount left to sell = Rs(4500-1500) = Rs 3000

Thus, the required selling price for the rest = Rs (3000+390)

                                                                        = Rs 3,390
